The Santee Indian tribe is hoping federal authorities will allow it to keep its gambling operations open. Tribal leaders will ask the U.S. Department of Interior for a federal government intervention that will allow the tribe to operate its gambling facilities, despite a state law prohibiting them. In the meantime, the Santee tribe continues to operate despite court-ordered fines for each day the gambling facility remains opens.
